Stellenbosch University (SU) is proud to be part of the official launch of a new Thuthuzela Care Centre (TCC) for victims of gender-based violence (GBV) in Ida’s Valley.
SU accepted the invitation from the Ring for Peace Cape Trust (RfPCT) to actively participate in establishing the INSPIRE (Initiative for Non-violence, Support, Prevention, Intervention, Research and Education) facility within the Centre. SU INSPIRE will help to establish global networks to study nonviolence and create an environment for academics and students to do GBV-related research.
The centre opened its doors in February this year and have already provided help to more than 90 people affected by GBV.
